Hope in Christ
“Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God (Psalm 43:5).”
It’s mental health awareness month and the bible is filled with scripture to help get through the darkness and the unrest of the mind. Many people face mental health challenges and God knew that we would need encouragement and provided words to bring hope and comfort.
The psalmist in Psalm 43 had hope, not within himself but in God but God had not yet delivered him from the situation that oppressed him. Instead of crumbling in despair he voiced his pain to God and reminded himself that God is trustworthy and so he chose to remain steadfast in that hope, the hope of God who provides the peace needed which encouraged him in his distress.
We too have hope but not just hope but a promise that rests in Christ alone. It is what brings assurance and peace as you place your focus on Him instead of the uncertainty of the unknown. And His word assures all believers; “The Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you... (2 Thessalonians 3:3a)”.
