Caught in the Undertow: God’s Rescue for Anxiety, Panic and Depression

Anxiety, depression and panic are not new, and it was never the intent for humans to suffer their effects. Unfortunately, through the lack of trust in God’s plan and direction, anxiety, depression and panic were introduced into our world. God knew it would happen and as much as this may have broken His heart, He wouldn’t abandon His creation but rather provide a prescription to rid us of the feelings of anxiety and mental unrest. Throughout the Bible there are stories of people who suffered from troubling times and anxious moments. We will explore some of them so that you can see that worry, unease, nervousness and uncertainty can be overcome with trust in God; we just have to follow the examples of the men and women who felt the limitations of anxiousness and later peace when they gave their worries over to God.

Well Water

Well Water is about finding your way. It is about connecting to your true self, your soul, your spirit, the person you were always meant to be. Before meeting Christ, the true Prince, we were accomplices to our own unhappiness and dissatisfaction, settling for less than what Christ has for us. The story of the woman at the well is about a woman who is similar to us. She was going through everyday life without experiencing joy or satisfaction. She didn’t even think her life could be any better. She had settled for less than what she really wanted or needed, thus she had become an accomplice to her own despondency.

Every Day the Master Speaks

Every Day the Master Speaks is about hearing God in your circumstances and understanding His desire for you. It is His Holy Spirit that lives in you that will provide the guidance you need and who will speak to you as you seek to accomplish His will in your life. It is a reminder that you are not alone and that God hears you when you cry out to Him and when you seek Him with your whole heart. You may not hear what you want to hear, but He will speak. The question you must ask yourself is, “Am I willing to listen”?

When God Doesn’t Stop the Rain

No matter what family we are born into or what our socioeconomic background or status, there is a search for who we are and who we are to become. Sometimes that road is filled with hardships, making people believe that the world is cruel and unfair. But life events aid in shaping our character and destiny. Too many people delay the process of development because they don’t see the trials they face as necessary steps in their growth. We also refuse to accept any personal responsibility for the mishaps or missteps along the way. Christians may feel that life is hard, but understand that we are not without hope. If God is the one who determines who and what we will become, then we cannot derail His process by choosing a different road.
