The Hope of Advent
Sunday marked the beginning of Advent, a season of preparation. It is a time when Christians spend several weeks in penance, prayer and fasting as we prepare for the coming of Christ.
Traditionally, churches light a candle representing different themes all to bring focus to what we as Christian seek and long for. Week one’s focus is hope and we all could use a little bit of hope right now. In Christ we have hope, hope for a better life, a brighter future, for a better tomorrow. It is in Christ that this hope is realized for He is a living hope, our living hope. This is what we were given when Christ came into the world.
May our faith be grounded and unshaken as we demonstrate confident faith and hope in Jesus Christ our Lord.
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living Hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.”
