Means to an End

“And he said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it finds fulfillment in the kingdom of God.” (Luke 22:15-16)

Passover, Jesus’ work on the earth is almost finished. As He sits for the Passover meal with His disciples, it is the last meal they will eat with Him before His suffering begins. It was a passionate moment, a moment of merciless suffering. It is the time to say goodbye to those whom He called to follow Him, His disciples. To put it simply, His suffering was a “means to an end”. Jesus was willing to die for us to live.
