Evidence of the Presence of Jesus
“For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born (1 Corinthians 15:3-8).”
Wanting to see something before you can accept whether it is real or not is reasonable especially when living in a world where information can be gathered from a number of sources. You want someone or something that is reliable and you want evidence that proves and gives reason to believe that what has been heard and seen is the truth. The Apostle Paul not only documented what he had heard about Jesus but also what he had seen. His knowledge came from scripture as well as from those who had walked with Christ. Paul didn’t make it up. What he saw and what he received came from Christ alone.
Hearing about Christ after Easter is infrequent (unless you are an avid church goer). Usually it’s not until Christmas does He gain more attention whereby people are comfortable talking about Him again but Jesus should be talked about and looked for often because He is ever present in the lives of those who have believed in Him and who have seen Him actively participating in their lives. Encounters with Christ are not as remote as one might think. He is always revealing Himself but it requires looking beyond what your eyes see to what your heart feels.
