Work
“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.” Colossians 3:23-24Day after day you try diligently to do things that please God but are you doing it out of obligation or out of love? Have you ever asked the question “Is serving God worth it”? These are questions that arise when you don’t see any benefit and when your service appears fruitless and without any substantive outcome. But don’t be too hasty in establishing a response based on what you see. There will be times that you toil and toil where giving up is the easiest thing to do. The key is going beyond what you see and realize that even if there isn’t visual presence of your efforts and service to God there are things that can be going on that you cannot see. Similar to gardening, you believe that if you plant a seed, put it in good soil, water it and provide the proper light and nutrients, growth will occur. It is the same when serving God. You know you’ve done everything He has asked and yet you can’t see any growth. You can’t see it because it’s happening on the inside the place that isn’t hidden from God.So, “Is serving God worth it”? The answer is “yes it is”. We serve not because we have too but because we want to and the reason we do it is because of our love for Him. You do your part and trust God to do the rest.
