Use Your Hammer

February 14, 2019While sitting quietly an old song started playing in my head:If I had a hammerI'd hammer in the morningI'd hammer in the eveningAll over this landI'd hammer out dangerI'd hammer out a warningI'd hammer out love between my brothers and my sistersAll over this land

As I reflected on the words of this song I thought about the discord amongst people, the suffering of the disenfranchised, those living on the streets, the drug addicted, the runaways, the lonely, the grieved, and more and I began to consider this “hammer”. A hammer is a weighted tool used to deliver an impact, used to deliver force beyond human capacity. And I thought, “I do have a hammer” and it is the Holy Spirit! What we can’t do in our flesh we can more than conquer through the power of God’s Holy Spirit. It is our hammer used to offer an impact to the things that are beyond our capacity to affect change, destroying strongholds and providing strength where we are weak.If the Holy Spirit lives in you, you hold the hammer; go forth and make an impact using His power to make a difference!“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you;” Acts 1:8a
