Decision Making

February 13, 2019From what time to get up to what to wear to what to eat, it’s hard to estimate how many decisions are made in a day. Some decisions are easier than others especially if there are limited choices but how does one make a decision that affects the rest of your life? It’s tough and requires critical thinking.Ruth was a young woman whose husband had died and was faced with staying in her homeland with her own people to worship her own gods. Her mother-in-law (Naomi) strongly urged her to remain with her people as she returned to her own homeland. But Ruth made a critical decision; she assessed her condition and determined her affection for her mother in law far outweighed whatever she might have staying behind. She was clear and emphatic about what she wanted not knowing what the future held but she determined that nothing was going to stop her:

“Then she said, "Behold, your sister-in-law has gone back to her people and her gods; return after your sister-in-law." But Ruth said, "Do not urge me to leave you or turn back from following you; for where you go, I will go, and where you lodge, I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God, my God.” Ruth 1:15-16Ruth’s decision changed her life. Instead of being a young desolate widow, that one decision catapulted her into a life of blessings and promise. Is there a decision you’re faced with today? Ruth had no ulterior motives. Her desire was to be with her mother-in-law whom she apparently had a deep affection for. Seek God’s guidance and trust in the process that if He is leading you, it is the right decision.©2018-2019 Mamie Johnson Ministries
