Unshakeable Faith
“Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before.”Daniel 6:10Daily routines are helpful in getting things done. They provide a sense of control and are helpful in times of stress. Routine is good if you include things that not only take care of the physical needs but also your spiritual needs. When you take care of your spirit, you are addressing the most important part of who you are. Doing so enables you to deal with whatever the day brings as you are being reminded that you have an advocate with you to guide you throughout the day.Daniel had a routine. He was an upright man, distinguished, with exceptional qualities. Not everybody likes do gooders and that is what Daniel was. There were people who did not appreciate a man of his character so they sought a way to discredit him, setting a trap to ensnare him. They encouraged the king who ruled over him to issue a decree that anyone who prayed to any god or human for the next thirty days be thrown into the lion’s den (Daniel 6:7). Such a threat did not deter Daniel’s daily routine. He did as he’d always done, going up to his upper chamber opening his window towards Jerusalem and getting down on his knees to pray. The king favored Daniel and did not want to follow through on his decree but it was sealed and could not be undone. They (Daniel’s enemies) thought they’d won but it was because of Daniels unrelenting commitment to God through his daily rituals that his life was spared, that he received favor from the king, and most importantly because of Daniel’s actions, it led to a decree that everyone in the kingdom “must fear and reverence the God of Daniel”.Your day to day regimens are doing more than your physical eye can see. Enduring in faith brings courage, confidence, perseverance and salvation.
