“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works,” Ephesians 2:10aSeveral years ago Rick Warren wrote a book entitled, “The Purpose Driven Life”. But before Rick Warren there was, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, King David, Solomon, Jeremiah, and Isaiah, John, Peter, and Paul. Each have either asked or echoed the message of purpose.This subject should not be dismissed as a trendy phase people go through. Purpose is powerful because it leads to a fulfilling life. If you look around you will find that there are many individuals who have lost their way and the result is aimless wandering, picking up things that bring temporary fulfillment. Recently I read a story of a famous athlete who has since retired. He had a successful career but after he retired he had no direction, no purpose. His sport was all he knew so he resorted to alcohol to ease the anxiety of not knowing or understanding what his life was about or what he was supposed to accomplish. Yes, he did achieve success as an athlete but when his career was over there was nothing. He needed a new purpose to fill that sense of loss. You can numb the feelings of purpose but they will come back again until you satisfy the thing that is pulling at you on the inside.Having purpose is having power because you have something to aim toward, a target you’re trying to hit and until you hit it, you continue pursing it because you believe you were put here for that reason. It also limits the negative talk of your mind and draws energy from the passion of the call.Salvation gave us purpose and that must be our motivation and the impetus we need to accomplish His will for us!“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,  not a result of works, so that no one may boast.  For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:8-10
