Trust When I am Afraid
“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” (Psalm 56:3-4)
God is always there for us. But tell that to someone whose lost a loved one or whose been laid off, or someone suffering a broken relationship, losing a home, or receiving a bad diagnosis. If He is always there then where was He when I suffered such pain and loss? He was there with you but were you with Him?
Our Lord is a comforter and He desires not just to rescue you but He wants to be with you, to abide with you. It is then you will see and experience His love and care. It is also when you will begin to understand just how much you are in His safe keeping.
Jesus is not a lifeguard who rescues only in times of emergency, He is an abiding presence, a sustainer, providing love and support not only in times of distress but throughout all your life.
