Trusting God While You Wait

“But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.” (2 Peter 3:8)

“A watched pot never boils.” You probably understand this phrase especially if you have lingering questions and haven’t received an answer. When counseling young people, especially young women who are looking for their life partner, they are often despaired because they don’t know when God will fulfill their desire or answer their prayers. The key is “you have to stay motivated until He answers you.” This applies not only to young women but to anyone longing for an answer to petitions you’ve lifted up to the heavens.

Wanting something too quickly is cause to miss what God has for you. And keep in mind, God is not relegated to your timing. To believe this you have to first believe that God will give you the desires of your heart but first, “seek ye the kingdom of God” which simply stated means, when you put Him first, the rest will follow. As you seek His will, your prayer(s) will align with what He wants for you.

“If the Lord Jehovah makes us wait, let us do so with our whole hearts; for blessed are all they that wait for Him. He is worth waiting for. The waiting itself is beneficial to us: it tries faith, exercises patience, trains submission, and endears the blessing when it comes. The Lord’s people have always been a waiting people”- Charles Spurgeon
