God’s Name
“Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.” (Psalm 9:10)
Names are important to our identity. It tells people who we are and when they remember our name, they are in essence telling us that we mean something to them. King Solomon espoused, “A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches.”
From birth, our parents decided what we would be called and we live the rest of our lives identified as such. But, not so to those who are heirs to the Kingdom of God. As children of God we take on a new identity and that new name gives us a new start, a greater inheritance, a longed-for promise. No matter your given name, it is what God calls you that matters, and He calls you a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation,” His special possession!
Every time you say His name it should mean something to you! “The name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous run to it and are safe”. (Proverbs 18:10) Never forget His name!
