True Believers Love God
“And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me (Luke 9:23).”
True believers love God. It is at the heart of the Christian faith and what we boldly proclaim without hesitancy. In John chapter 21 Jesus asked Peter three times “do you love me”. Twice Peter responded, “You know that I love you” but Peter’s third response was “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you”.
Have you ever asked someone “do you really love me”? Jesus wasn’t asking Peter this question out of any insecurity. He was asking Peter are you certain, are you sure because if Peter truly loved Jesus it was going to cost him something it was going to cost Peter his life (see John 21:17-19).
Being committed to Christ means more than saying “you know I love you”. It means putting love into action, a covenant between you and Christ. Before telling Jesus I do, make sure that you do.
