The Comforter

“Now that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem. They were talking with each other about everything that had happened. As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them;” (Luke 24:13-15)

If you’ve ever lost someone you loved then you understand what it means to be overcome with grief, wondering what to do next. These two men were traveling together talking about their loss, reliving the events of Jesus’ life up to and including His death. The text doesn’t say who they were but what is clear is that their hearts were heavy, and it was while they discussed their hurt, Jesus came along and joined them. One could dissect several thoughts from this brief scripture but what I want you to see is that it was in their sadness, the heaviness of heart, their loss, that is when Jesus joined them.

It should be of great comfort to know that in our darkest hour, when grief is overwhelming, Jesus is with us. He promises never to leave nor forsake us and when you know He is there you can know with certainty that everything is going to be alright. #Christ #believe #Comforter #Jesuscares #Heiswithus #SonOfGod #seethesonrise
