Steadfast Faith

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7Trusting God means letting go of control and giving it over to Him. In a world filled with people suffering from PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), anxiety and panic attacks one should desire someone else to take over especially Someone who has the ability and the power to help. One of the reasons for holding onto things stems from a lack of faith in God. Before you dismiss this notion of lacking faith consider your own thoughts and actions. When you go to God in prayer do you walk away with a sense of peace or are you walking in doubt and fear? These are telltale signs of a lack of trust. Many of our thoughts about God come from our families, church leaders, and other believers and their practiced beliefs. If they were constantly telling you that “God will make a way” and yet you saw fear and disbelief you are more than likely to take on some of those same behaviors. You want to believe but just in case you put in place a plan “B”. God is not like that. If He promises anything He will do it (2 Corinthians 1:20). You may not see it right away but that is when steadfast faith takes over and whispers “God is faithful”.Trusting in God is only difficult if you don’t have a relationship with Him and a relationship with Him is developed over time. Pray, read His word, spend quiet time with Him and get to know Him on a level so deep that you can feel His presence right beside you and from time to time carrying you.So “let go and let God” and experience the peace that He brings.
