Called to Serve
Their goal is to serve the people and to defend the Nation, to fulfill national military responsibilities. Men and women have served and some have given their lives for the sake of our country for the sake of others. Their courageous acts should not be taken lightly. Because of them we experience protection and freedom.Such selfless acts emulate what God does and has done for us. God through His Son has placed a shield around us preventing those who would try to attack and destroy us sustaining us in conflicting times. Sometimes our God is a barrier and other times He actually fights for us. Throughout the bible we see where God has defended us and keeps us from harm. In the book of Exodus the Lord is called a man of war (Exodus 15:3). He is the Chief and absolute Monarch and Commander!Knowing that there are people out there willing to sacrifice their lives for you is not only noteworthy but deserves our extreme gratitude. So today we thank them all for their willingness to put their life on the line for others. What great examples they are. It is exactly what Christ did for us. He is and was the greatest example of service. His death not only brought us freedom but it brought us new life.“Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends (John 15:13).”
