Self-Examination

30 pcs of silver.png

“Then one of the Twelve—the one called Judas Iscariot—went to the chief priests and asked, “What are you willing to give me if I deliver him over to you?” So they counted out for him thirty pieces of silver. From then on Judas watched for an opportunity to hand him over (Matthew 26:14-16).”

To fully grasp this scripture you need to go back to the book of Exodus and chapter 2. There you will find that 30 pieces of silver was the price paid for a slave. In the eyes of those who were threatened by Him, the chief priests, Jesus wasn’t worth more than 30 pieces of silver; monies paid to Judas for betraying Him. Is that really all Jesus is worth? To them He was no more than a hireling, someone to be ruled over and not Someone who God sent to rule.

On Day 3 of Holy week it is an opportunity for self-examination. What is Jesus’ worth to you?
