Scars
“Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe (John 20:27).”If you’ve ever suffered an injury more than likely you bear the scars that were left behind. Sometimes those scars fade and at other times they remain. Physical scars are a reminder of an event that you’ve gone through but scars also represent something else. They represent that you got through it, you made it, that the hurt, those scars didn’t destroy you, that you were healed. Scars may leave a mark but not the pain. When Thomas was told of the citing of Jesus he wouldn’t believe what he’d heard until he could visibly see his nail scarred hands and feet. There will be people who won’t get to know Christ until they see your scars, the realization that you experienced hurt but you got through it. Scars are not only physical but there can be some emotional and spiritual wounds that are unseen and it is through sharing the healing power of Christ that you become a witness to His unfailing love and power to heal and restore. The next time someone asks to see your scars, show them but also tell them about the One who healed you!
