Sending Out Disciples
“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching (Hebrews 10:24-25).”For those who grew up believing you had to be in a building to worship God it is disconcerting when your lack of attendance has nothing to do with your desire or your will. The bible encourages community worship but when the world you live limits that access there has to be another way to connect with other believers. The church is not only about connecting with other believers but it is also about equipping the people for the works of the ministry (Ephesians 4:12); to go outside the structural walls to do what the church is charged with doing, making disciples. Although some have bucked at the idea of online church, that may be the only way some will hear the message of salvation, the redeeming power of Jesus, and His overwhelming love for all people. This new way of church attendance can create a wave of churchgoers who previously had no inclination for God or God’s people. In uncertainty people want certainty and Christ is certain!! It’s time to put into practice that which has been stored up in your heart, what you have been trained to do, what we all have been trained to do. Whether by direct encounter, online, through acts of kindness, or otherwise, it’s time for the church to rise up and be the church.
