Rooted in God’s Word
“Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit (Jeremiah 17:7-8).”
It’s that time of year when plant lovers look forward to seeing their hard work from the previous year come to life. Plans were laid out and the consult of nursery professionals aided plant enthusiasts in understanding what grows best where and what are the best environments to place them.
What we learn from plants is resiliency in the midst of adversity. Even when plants are exposed to fluctuating weather conditions they have the incredible ability to adapt to temperature change and continue to grow. That is because while the foliage declines the roots underneath the soil are still growing and thriving.
In our lives it may look like nothing is happening but oftentimes God does His work underneath the surface, on the inside of us, changing our hearts and minds resulting in actions that demonstrate His love. If you are rooted in God’s word you too will continue to grow even when facing challenges and shifting winds because it is in His word where you find nourishment and support in the toughest of times.
