February 28, 2019“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common.” Acts 2:42-44It was after Jesus had ascended to heaven, the day of Pentecost that the Holy Spirit descended on the disciples. Great power was exhibited that day as people of different regions and dialects heard the message but became bewildered at what they were seeing and hearing. They concluded that those speaking were impaired (drunk) however that thought was quickly dispelled as Peter stood up and addressed the crowd. He addressed their perplexity and clarified what they were seeing. He took the opportunity to explain the very message Jesus preached introducing the gospel to a Gentile audience. Those who accepted the message were then baptized. The result of their belief were miracles and fellowship with one another.
Followers of Christ have a great opportunity to experience the same power, miracles, and fellowship that were seen at Pentecost. The problem is unbelief has limited the power God has given those who receive Him by faith. Such faithlessness is detrimental because instead of trusting in God you begin to trust in your own abilities that at best are limiting. The same power that existed at Pentecost lives within you but first you must rid yourself of fear, doubt, and placing limitations on God’s power.Today, I still hear stories of healings when doctors thought it impossible, of deliverance from addictions after years of trying, of relationships being restored, of answered prayers, and many fascinating stories that can only be explained by the miraculous power of God! They are not coincidences.Just like Jesus said to the father who sought healing for his son (Mark 9:17-21), “Everything is possible for one who believes (Mark 9:23)”.Are you looking for a miracle? “…What is impossible with man is possible with God (Luke 18:27)”.©2018-2019 Mamie Johnson Ministries
