New Beginnings
“The LORD said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites: ‘On the first day of the seventh month you are to have a day of sabbath rest, a sacred assembly commemorated with trumpet blasts. Do no regular work but present a food offering to the LORD’ (Leviticus 23:23-25).”
Today is Rosh Hashanah, or the Jewish New Year. It is the day of atonement a high holy day. A day of praying, personal reflection and hearing the shofar (the blowing of the trumpet), a delicate blend of joy and solemnity, feasting and fasting. It is a call for repentance and sacrifice and for the love of the Torah, the law of God as revealed to Moses.
It is a chance for new beginnings and for introspection whether you celebrate the day or not. It is a excellent opportunity to look inward, to become self-aware, to see where you are as it pertains to aligning with God’s will and to see the growth that you’ve made or not. A time to spend alone with God to repent of sin and to position ourselves with God’s will. It is a time of rebirth, revival, and revitalization.
