Never Forget to Pray
“In those days Hezekiah was sick and near death. And Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, went to him and said to him, “Thus says the LORD: ‘Set your house in order, for you shall die, and not live.’ ”Then he turned his face toward the wall, and prayed to the LORD, saying, “Remember now, O LORD, I pray, how I have walked before You in truth and with a loyal heart, and have done what was good in Your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly (2 Kings 20:1-3).”When troubled we pray. We pray to obtain deliverance, we pray to ease our suffering, and we pray to receive help, we pray for mercy. There are many reasons why we pray and when we earnestly pray we seek a favorable response from God. Hezekiah a faithful servant who had great zeal for God found himself crying out to God in prayer. His story echo’s “why do bad things happen to good people”. He was bold in His actions tearing down pagan altars, idols, and temples. But one day he had become ill and was told he was going to die. Someone with such fervor for God should have experienced a blessed life yet there was a time he found himself falling on his knees crying out to God. Instead of accepting his fate, he prayed. He prayed that God would remember the good he had done and asked for mercy and God gave him fifteen more years.Good people suffer but it's what you do in your suffering that can make all the difference. In good times and bad, never forget to pray.“Don’t forget to join me this Thursday, May 7th for a National Day of prayer event at 12:00pm.
