Living For Christ

“Now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. Father, glorify your name!” John 12:27-28Jesus predicted His own death. His life was all about service, service to His Father, and service for us, doing for us what we could not do for ourselves, sacrificing His life for our sins. But this is not new news. It is what Christianity represents, believing in the person and the teachings of Christ. So how does this relate to our lives and the service we should render in light of Jesus’ actions? “If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord” (Romans 14:8). It is the lens we are to see ourselves. When we look at our reflection we should see Him, our actions mirroring His actions.Jesus’ life was about sacrifice and suffering and He did it without complaint. Yes He prayed and yes He cried out to God in agony and suffering (Matthew 26:36-46) but the bottom line was He was going to do what He had been purposed to do to accomplish the will of His Father. If we can take away anything from Jesus’ life and sufferings it is the fact that our destination, what God has for us is far better than anything we experience down here. “For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all” (2 Corinthians 4:17).Life is worth living if you are living your life for Him!
