Life in the Spirit
“It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life. But there are some of you who do not believe.” John 6:63You’ve heard the scripture “the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak” (Matthew 26:41). So exactly what does that mean? Our physical man has limitations. The body gets tired and without proper care it will faint failing to function at its optimal level. However we are not mere mortal beings. We possess God’s spirit His very nature and it’s up to us to awaken it and feed it with the things that propel it into action.Jesus was the embodiment of God who came to us in flesh and abides in us in Spirit. It is that Spirit the spirit of the living God that lives in us and it is that self same spirit that God breathed into us at creation. In the flesh Jesus experienced all of the things that we do; tiredness, grief, loneliness, depression but He did not succumb to them. He knew the power He possessed and He used it when needed. He prayed and spent time alone with His Father feeding His spirit and as man made it a point to pull away to get some rest.God knows that our physical man gets tired and needs rest and rest we should. But don’t forget about the spirit man, to feed it with prayer, mediation, and reading His word. That is how the inner man receives nourishment and as Christ’s ambassadors, His servants, we need both to carry out His mission to the world.“Take the news of his glory to the lost,News of his wonders to one and all!For GOD is great, and worth a thousand Hallelujahs.” Psalm 96:3-4
