Know the Lord
“Let us know; let us press on to know the LORD; his going out is sure as the dawn; he will come to us as the showers, as the spring rains that water the earth (Hosea 6:3).”
Who is the Lord? It is a question that Jesus asked His disciples; “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” Some answered based on what others said about Him but Jesus wanted to know after all the time they’d spent together, who they thought He was. Only one of the disciples answered, Simon Peter, and His response was “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God”. It is a question that Jesus asks of all of His followers. Is He Someone you only seek when in pain or distress or Someone you have an awareness of but are yet to fully know Him?
One can know of Jesus and still not know Him. Possessing the knowledge of Christ does not convey a confident belief in Him. On our own it is impossible to know Him. Our sin nature creates a barrier but knowing Jesus is possible when you accept and receive Him as your Savior. That is then one can really get to know Him.
It is the Lord who reveals Himself to us through His Son. “Let us know; let us press on to know the Lord”!
