Inescapable

Catastrophes can cause us to take stock, to look inward and examine what is really important in life. If you give it careful thought and reflection, such situations are occurring everyday. From our neighborhoods, in our cities, state, and country, we are never at a loss of experiencing unexpected disaster. And since some such events cannot be prevented it would be prudent to consider how you view them. So how are we to view the unexpected events in life?PrayAsk God to help you to discern what your role is in the situation and for the strength to cope with the unexpected. Pray for understanding and the strength to endure.“We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.” 2 Corinthians 4:8-8Take StockLife is filled with uncertainty and disaster can be of benefit if you you’re your focus inwardly realizing that things can be replaced but a life is of far greater value than the stuff that is lost. You can’t replace a life.“So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.” Matthew 6:31-32TrustWhen you have no control, put your confidence in the One who does have control. God knows what is best for us and sometimes He has to strip us of the things we depend on so that our love and loyalty returns to Him.“I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust.” Psalm 91:2CrySome disasters can’t be simply put into words. God gave us our emotions so why keep them bottled up. A tear provides release and frees your body of the stress that seeks to strangle your soul. It’s ok to grieve your loss but in the midst of your grief, cast your cares on God.“Cast all your cares on Him for He cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7DiscoverAs impossible as it may seem, great blessings can result in the midst of tragedy and loss. Notice that after a horrific storm a rainbow appears as a reminder that we have reason to hope and God provides these markers to solidify our trust in Him.In good times and in bad, God is there to guide us through, He is our dwelling place and that place is a place of safety and love.“May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us;”Psalm 90:17a
