A Helping Hand
“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2What an incredible outpouring of love and support has been seen over the last few days. Neighbor helping neighbor, merchants offering assistance with food and more, the church (the body of believers who follow Christ) have all pitched in doing what they can for those less fortunate than themselves. It all started with someone seeing a need and their ability to fill that need. It doesn’t take much and it reaps great benefits. To discontinue the conversation of the tornadoes that decimated many homes and businesses in Ohio would be to forget the ongoing needs of those who have been severely affected. Well after the news media discontinues coverage there will still be work to be done. Consider the earthquake in Haiti, the hurricane in Puerto Rico or the effects of hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. Years later there remain portions of these areas that have not recovered. We can’t do everything but what we can do should be done with joy and gladness as we, through our service, join them in their suffering. It is the call of Christ and our duty to do what we can wherever we can.“And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.” Hebrews 13:16
