Heed the Signs
“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.” Matthew 24:42Tornadoes arise suddenly accommodated by strong persistent rotation in the cloud base, whirling dust and debris, with occasional heavy rain or hail followed by dead calm or fast wind. In such cases we’re told to take precautions and to act quickly, to go to a designated shelter or safe room to prevent injury, and to heed the warnings. When you ignore clear warning signs the chance of experiencing catastrophe is significantly increased. To heed means to listen and pay attention to what is going on around you.God also wants your attention and if you want to live the life He intended it’s vital that you hear His message of unfailing love. In order to really hear what He is saying requires silencing the noise around you, the ongoing commotion, so that He is given to your full attention. He will guide you in the event of danger providing direction and clarity giving you a greater sense of awareness and His presence. The result is increased trust and confidence in Him.God gives us warning signs about every matter concerning life; He warns us of sin, about the coming of the last days, about laziness, about falling away from His teachings, about greed, about coveting, about being intentional lest we fall back into the ways of sin (e.g. backsliding), and it’s up to us whether we will acknowledge these signs or not. These warnings apply to everyone and no one should consider themselves exempt from the dangers of disobedience to God’s will.May your prayer be to always be open and obedient to God’s warning signs so that we can escape the turbulence that is all around us. As we open our eyes to see Him and our ears to hear Him we then begin to live for and in Him.
