In Times Like These
In light of everything that is occurring in our world today we need to be encouraged. We are discovering new norms and our children are having to experience things many of us have never experienced in our lifetime. How do we calm fears and bring comfort? We pray. So, I offer this prayer for our world, for those who have been directly affected by this sickness, for those whose lives were taken because of it, to those who struggle in the loss of their loved one, for our children, for their education, for an unknown future, but also to a knowing God who is able to deliver us from all of this. We pray…Most Holy God,From everlasting to everlasting, you are God. I submit this prayer, these petitions to you. We are walking in unknown territory. In a land in a place that we have never walked before. We seek relief and yet see no immediate relief in sight. But in you Lord, there is nothing that is not known nor has anything caught you off guard. You are our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in the time of trouble. So, it is not in man that we seek answers but to you the all-knowing God.In this time there is a sense of hopelessness and yet we are confident that we are not without hope. It is your word that we rely on and have confidence. We pray for our world and for everyone that is suffering today, for those whose lives have been taken much too soon, for those who have lost loved ones, for our children, the need for them to continue their education. Especially for the children who may not have all of the resources as others. We pray for our teachers who have had to develop new skills in an effort to help our children not lose momentum. We also pray for an unknown future, but we know by faith that our life is in Your hands and it is that assurance that brings us peace. You Lord are more than able to deliver us, to provide a solution, a cure for what has befallen us. It has caused us to reassess our lives to determine what is important and more importantly, it has turned our attention to the One who is able to deliver us. We are reminded of your word that was true yesterday and holds true today; “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” This is our prayer prayed in confident faith to You our ever-faithful God. Amen
