Promises are God’s Visions

“Look around from where you are, to the north and south, to the east and west. All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever. I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone could count the dust, then your offspring could be counted. Go, walk through the length and breadth of the land, for I am giving it to you. “So Abram went to live near the great trees of Mamre at Hebron, where he pitched his tents. There he built an altar to the Lord (Genesis 13:14b-18).”

Wow! What a blessing Abraham received from God. Although it had not been realized it was promised and a promise made to a man that had no children and did not own the land God was showing him but yet he believed. He believed it because of the integrity of the One who made the promise. God had given Abraham a vision for his life.

When you have a vision you have something to move toward. Visioning provides a blueprint bringing the unseen into focus moving you into the direction of achieving it. In the Old Testament book of Habakkuk we find the prophet questioning God about things that were occurring around him so he pulled away to talk with Him about it. His time with God was a time of questioning but also to seek answers. God told him to write the vision, to make it plain so that those who saw it would run to it (Habakkuk 2:2).

The same instruction God gave to Habakkuk is a model worth following today. The Bible is filled with promises to God’s people. These promises are visions of the things God has for you. When God gives you a promise, write it down to gain clarity, to develop your blueprint, and make it known through your testimony. The world needs to hear His favor and when they hear of it, it has the power to motivate others seeing the progress you’ve made because of your faith in Him. God’s vision is found in His word.

“Where there is no vision, the people perish: (Proverbs 29:18a).”
