Hope Wins
January 13, 2019God’s word is filled with warnings because He loves us; His desire is to save us not to scare us. So why don’t we take heed to His warnings? When you don’t see the immediate consequence to the warning signs you put yourself in danger and the result can be catastrophic. From traffic signs, to construction zones, a noticeable lump, the warning to beware of dog, watch for high water, prescription labels, to emergency vehicle sirens, they’re warnings to be careful of what’s ahead. But no matter how many warnings are given, many willingly ignore them. Warning signs keep us from danger and yet there are some warnings that are not quite as overt but require an equal amount of attention.
If you take a good look around you can see that the world is moving away from the will of God. This should be of no surprise because the bible speaks of the behavior of the world and how it is at enmity with God. James 4:4b is explicit about just such devotion; “Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God”. Just like God exercised patience with the children of Israel (Exodus 34:5-7) He exercises the same patience with us. But it’s important that we not take His patience for granted because there will come a day of reckoning.Yes, God has given us warning signs but to those who love Him and seek to do His will they are signs of hope from our God who keeps His word. Evil will not win and that is a promise He will keep.“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9).”©2018-2019 Mamie Johnson Ministries
