God's Will
“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God (Romans 8:26-27).”One of the hardest things to do is to pray for God’s will. Difficult if you are apprehensive or uncertain about what His will for you might be. There has to be an inherent understanding of what the will of God really is and not everyone is content or accepting of God’s will. The psalmist espouses in Psalm 135:6 that; The Lord does whatever pleases Him, in the heavens and on the earth, in the seas and all their depths”.To accept God’s will means understanding His will, His divine will, and His divine will is that all should come to the knowledge of the truth as the way to being saved (1 Timothy 2:3-4). That’s God’s will and He knows exactly what it will take to accomplish it. He may choose to accomplish it through pain and suffering, tragedy, and or death, or through more subtle events like that found in the story of an Ethiopian eunuch where God used Philip as an evangelist to help him understand the scripture and the way to salvation (Acts 8:26-39).Praying the will of God isn’t always easy but even through our undecipherable groans He understands us and understands the pain that we may sometimes experience in our prayers. Our love for God and His will has to be greater than what we think is best. That is how one can pray “Your will be done, Your kingdom come, on earth as it is in heaven”.Even when it’s hard, may we all be strengthened in our inner being to accept the sovereign will of God!
