Gaining Strength
“Strengthen the feeble hands, steady the knees that give way; say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you (Isaiah 35:3-4).”“When hard times come, it’s easy to blame God for our problems”. It’s a thought that has crossed the minds of many who are experiencing hard times right now. With unemployment at an all time high, investments dwindling, job furloughs, and more, of course we want to know where is God and why isn’t He doing something about it?Scripture encourages, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything (James 1:2-4)”. Instead of looking for someone to blame, God wants you to look inside yourself to examine what you really believe about Him and how you walk out what you believe (your faith) especially during trials.Strength is built when an exercise is done repeatedly, over and over again. Thus faith is built when it is tested over and over again. And over time if practiced, you will find that you are able to handle more and more.Don’t look at these momentary trials as an attempt to break you down but God’s way of building you up.
