Godly Advice
February 5, 2019“Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.” Proverbs 15:22In the book of 2 Kings 12, is the story of a man by the name of Rehoboam. He had gone to a place called Shechem where Israel had gone to make him king. An assembly of Israel went to Rehoboam asking that he lighten the labor that they suffered at the hands of his father. Rehoboam listened to them but requested that he have three days to consider their request. King Rehoboam consulted with the elders who had served his father and they gave him good advice, advice that would result in a favorable outcome. But he did not like such advice and decided to go to the young men he had grown up with whose advice was adverse to that of the elders. You can only imagine what the outcome would be and it was not favorable for King Rehoboam (see 2 Kings 12:1-22).
