God Forgives
January 16, 2019Her name was Tamar. Not much is known about her however the brief account of her life is one that provides hope even when seemingly life deals a bad hand. She was married but had no children. During Tamar’s time a woman’s value was based on her ability to conceive and bear children. Tamar was married three times to three brothers and yet she remained childless. So what did she do? She took matters into her own hands, veiled herself, dressed up like a prostitute, and encouraged her father in law Judah to sleep with her. Tamar conceived as a result of her deceit and became pregnant with twins and one of them named Perez is identified as an ancestor of King David (Ruth 4:18-22). Tamar almost lost her life as a result of her actions but her story is one that reveals the love and mercy of God.
