Eternal Glory

January 19, 2019Hearing that you have something to look forward to implies something good is coming. That is not always the case which can be clearly seen when looking at the life of Christ. His life was predicted, from His birth to His death, His was not a life to look forward to, at least with human expectations.Jesus’ birth was a fulfillment of a promise that God made to reconcile humankind back to Himself. During Christmastime His birth is celebrated with extravagant merriment and cheer. Yet after King Herod heard of His birth he sought to kill Him resulting in the slaughter of male infants in Bethlehem. The Pharisees and Sadducees would challenge Him (experts of the law) because of their opposition of His teaching, He would die by crucifixion, He would experience suffering, and those who walked with Him and experienced His miracles and teachings would deny him. And yet we are told we have something to look forward to, and we do!

Because of everything Jesus experienced we can look forward to an advocate to help us in difficult times (His Holy Spirit), a word that is everlasting (the Bible), a constant companion because He will never leave us, and ultimately a promise that He would return for us.The troubles we face cannot compare to what Jesus faced but He trusted His Father and that’s exactly what all believers must do. If you believe in Christ no matter what you may be going through you have something to look forward to. So lift your head oh ye saints and keep progressing toward the fulfillment of His promise.“For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal (2 Corinthians 4:17-18).”©2018-2019 Mamie Johnson Ministries
