Gift Of Life
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you,” 1 Peter 1:3-4
When receiving a great gift, it can be difficult to find the words to express how much you appreciate it or how much it means to you. Peter’s response to God’s great gift of new birth and a living hope was “praise”. There are many gifts we’ve received that are long since forgotten but the gift Christ has given us through His great mercy gives is a gift that will not fade away nor, I hope, will be soon forgotten. It is imperishable and prepared for us on our ultimate journey. It is a gift that we look forward to, a hope that is laid up for us in heaven, so beautiful and precious that it defies description or imagination. He has given us something that we do not deserve. So, you may not have the words to express your appreciation but praise to God says it all.
