Examine Yourself
Self-examinations have become a way of detecting abnormalities especially if done on a routine basis. Such exams are extremely beneficial if caught early. Early detection can lead to early treatment possibly preventing the spread of disease or for a situation to become life threatening. Allowing an abnormality to go undetected can result in rigorous and painful treatment plans or in some cases death. Our physical health is not the only area that self-exams are necessary. Spiritually we need to do the same. Spiritual evaluations test our motives and attitudes as we seek to walk in the manner as Christ did. Unlike the physical inspection, it may not be as easily detected or seen. When we think we’re right or choose to ignore a condition or situation you may find yourself unable to see that something is wrong. The Holy Spirit is your guide in examining who you really are but it requires brutal honesty especially if you truly desire to understand your true motivations and intentions. First it starts with honesty; is your motivation to do the will of God, are you willing to accept what the Spirit of the living God reveals to you about yourself, will you do what is necessary to prevent the dis-ease you’re experiencing from spreading, will you accept the truth, repent, and reconcile so that you are walking in the will of God? With early detection you can reverse your findings and develop a proper treatment plan.Just like a physical exam, no one likes to find out that there is something wrong but a prudent person when they do they will exercise good judgment and common sense, doing what is necessary to promote a cure. The end result is gained wisdom preventing the condition from occurring again. The treatment plan may be painful but the cure is worth it!“Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test!” 2 Corinthians 13:5
