Exam Time

“Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?” 2 Corinthians 13:5Education gives us knowledge of the world around us. Just because a subject has been taught does not determine learning has been acquired. Learning can be evaluated through testing and examination. According to The Oxford Review you can say learning has been acquired; “when you can repeat it”, “when you understand it”, “when you can explain it to others”, “when you can do something with it”.The Apostle Paul said if you want to know if you are in the faith, “examine yourselves”. It requires candor and in some cases brutal honesty and that is not always easy. Consider your physical body, how do you determine if you’re healthy or not. There are a number of ways to measure health. Scales (especially the fancy ones’) assess weight and bmi (body mass index). Thermometers convey body temperature, blood pressure machines evaluate just that, yearly physicals inform, and blood tests investigate. There are many ways the human body is examined and the spirit man needs equally as much attention. Cheating isn’t possible because what is in you will come out of you.It is through examination that faith is determined. Are you really a Christian? Are you really a true believer? Have you really been born again? It is more than mere words or identifying as one. It is action and attitude that prove the truth. May we all pass the test!
