Effectual Prayer

“Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” James 5:13a-16Prayer, it’s an important and essential part of our lives but not just for us but also for others. Prayer for healing and forgiveness brings comfort to the one we are praying for and it also serves as a reminder that we too need God. Praying for others is humbling and it is a privilege. Knowing that prayer is not just mere words but words that render results to those who are righteous is encouraging especially to the recipient of those prayers. It doesn’t matter your posture, whether standing, sitting, walking, or wherever you are; at work, at home, in school etc. audible or silent, God hears our prayers. So the next time someone asks you to pray for them do it with gladness and privilege that you are being trusted to pray for the concerns of others. It shows their faith in you but most importantly it demonstrates your faith in God.
