Dispelling Fear

“Then Jesus said to them, “All of you will be made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written: ‘I will strike the Shepherd and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’” (Matthew 26:31) Fear can either immobilize or motivate us. Consider for example Peter. He had been put in a controversial position where he had to affirm or deny Jesus’ identity (Matthew 26:69-75). When your personal well-being is at stake you can be lured into doing whatever necessary for self-preservation.  Whether it’s to maintain a position at work, to prevent punishment, or for the benefit of reward, all are susceptible to respond with a “what’s best for me” attitude. There is a way to overcome such fear and that is in knowing that God is on your side.Fear can prevent doing what is right but when your confidence is in God, fear is dispelled. Oswald Chambers captures this thought well; “it is only the fear of God that can deliver us from the fear of man.”Join Pastor Mamie for Trifecta of Destruction: Part 1 ANXIETY, a free 90-minute webinar THIS Saturday, June 27 at 10am (EDT).
