Children of God
February 19, 2019Upbringing has a lot to do with how individuals parent today. You’ve probably said to yourself, “I sound like my mother” or “I’m acting like my father”. That’s not all bad if they are words and actions of support and affirmation. There are however the not so supportive words that defeat and cause emotional and mental harm to developing children resulting in maladjusted adults. Look around and you’ll see a world full of just such individuals. The problem with this is that God as Father is often equated to the behaviors of earthly parents and nothing can be further from the truth.
Everything God desires for His children is done out of love whether an admonishment of bad behavior to waiting to respond to your prayers. It may seem that God is a task master and occasionally harsh but if you look at Him from the wisdom of His word it becomes clear that He wants the absolute best for His children.Your parents may not have been the best but maybe they did their best. When you become a child of God you have taken on new parentage and He can reparent the wounded child helping you to feel safe, secure, and loved with the ability to navigate life and relationships as one belonging to Him.“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.”1 John 3:1
