Use Your Weapons
February 20, 2019When someone says they are a Christian one might suppose that he or she is passive not lent to defending themselves, somewhat of a doormat. Yes, we are people who seek to do good, to help others, to give, to be considerate and to be kind but that does not mean that people get to walk all over you. Consider Jesus who was all of these and more but no one would ever nor could they walk all over Him. He rebuked religious leaders (Matthew 23), drove out the money changers (Matthew 21), and he rebuked His own disciples (Luke 9). He was neither passive nor weak.
Like Christ, we mustn’t be passive but confident in our position and unmovable in our stance. This does not mean we’re looking to engage in combat but if the situation presents itself don’t run away from the entanglement. Who’s to say that God may be developing you like He did Esther “for such a time as this”? Even Gideon, a military leader from the tribe of Benjamin (Judges 6-8) who was reluctant to go into battle was called by God to fight. An obedient leader, Gideon led 300 men into a battle with an enemy described as “thick as locusts”. The bottom line is, they won. When God leads you into battle don’t be reluctant to wield your weapons! Christians shouldn’t go looking for a fight but when you see a good one “jump in” and fight the good fight of faith.“The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:4-5©2018-2019 Mamie Johnson Ministries
