Buried Treasure
“But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; (2 Corinthians 4:7-9).” When you hear the word treasure one of the first things that comes to mind is something valuable and it is yet treasure is not always concerning money or great wealth. Within us lies great treasure but it is the kind that enables us to endure even in the midst of hard times. The moment we accepted Christ, the Lord deposited in us a precious gift, a treasure given to us moral creatures. In our frailty, these bodies of clay, lies power. Not the power exhibited by one who spends hours in the gym but the kind of power that is demonstrated during tough times. This power is displayed when challenges arise. Those who possess this power do not crumble when difficulty comes but they draw from the repository of the inherent power that is beyond measure that resides within them. It is the power that is able to perform miracles, influential power, the kind of power possessed by armies, the power of the triune God. It is the power of El Shaddai, God the Almighty, the power to bring water from a rock, to split the Red Sea, to bring life to the barren, to open blinded eyes, to bring the dead back to life. The indwelling presence of the Spirit of God is more powerful than any plague, any loss, any sickness, any distress. God is eternal and so is His power. Whatever you may be facing today, begin to draw from the repository of wealth that lies within you and watch the power of the Lord rise up! “Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak (Isaiah 40:28-29).”
