A Fitting Word
“In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God (John 1:1).”Words have a tremendous effect on our lives. They can be uplifting and discouraging, comforting or degrading, enlarging or minimizing, engaging or dismissive, encouraging or hindering, spew hate or express love. Words have a way of molding one’s character, what one might become or not become influencing various areas of life. Clearly words have a huge impact on who we are and aid in shaping our future.Harsh words have taken lives, destroyed families, and caused division while kind words have brought life and given hope where there was no hope offering forgiveness and grace. James admonishes us that our words (our tongues) are “fire” and we know that fire destroys what it comes in contact with (James 3:6). However the word of God brings life informing us of who we are and who we can be in Christ.May your words come from a pure heart, purity that is symbolic of someone who has the heart of God. “A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver (Proverbs 25:11).”
