Seek Wisdom

“At that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah and said to him: “Because you relied on the king of Aram and not on the Lord your God, the army of the king of Aram has escaped from your hand. Were not the Cushites and Libyans a mighty army with great numbers of chariots and horsemen? Yet when you relied on the Lord, he delivered them into your hand.  For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. You have done a foolish thing, and from now on you will be at war.” 2 Chronicles 16:7-9Asa a descendant of David was the third king of Judah. He was a wise king who listened to wise council, which resulted in removing idols from the Lord’s temple, and making a covenant with the people and God to earnestly seek the Him. Asa built fortified cities and experienced military success. Sometime later in his reign Asa forgot the covenant He’d made with the Lord and instead of placing his confidence in the Lord and seeking Him, he placed his confidence in the king of Aram. Rather than repent, Asa became angry and his kingdom was at war.If Asa had continued to follow wise council and seek the Lord, the outcome would have been much different. He exercised self-reliance instead of God reliance, which would prove to be a huge mistake. Asa was reminded that his previous successes was the result of his trust in God. He refused to take responsibility for his action. All Asa had to do was repent and God would have forgiven and restored him.God is faithful to us and He wants us to rely on Him. We mustn’t be so prideful and egocentric that we can’t say “I’m sorry Lord, please forgive me”. It is then, when your heart is sincere and you’ve experienced deep regret that God can restore and deliver you.
