Winning

When you see injustice, evil thriving, leadership failing, innocent people hurt, children abused, there is something that rises up in us. Human instinct suggests a reaction to what one deems as unfairness. And it is our reaction to such behaviors that influence our response and sometimes we want to fight. So can we separate our humanness from our Christianity? As Christians we are often expected to be passive, nonjudgmental, allowing wrongdoing to go unchecked however that is such a misnomer (an inaccurate designation). Being obedient to Christ does not mean becoming a doormat to the world.Christians do fight but not the same as the world does. Our fight takes place in our spirit and it is there that we gain guidance and the wherewithal to be sustained, guided in battle, and win. “For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:3-6).” We fight according to the spirit and not that of the flesh and we do it when we exercise humble obedience to the will of God.It sounds like giving up but it is in Christ that we win.
