Give Glory to God
Daniel replied, “No wise man, enchanter, magician or diviner can explain to the king the mystery he has asked about, but there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries. Daniel 2:27-28It happens more often than not, taking credit for someone else’s work. You put in countless hours and someone has the audacity to represent it as his or her own. You become shocked, angry, frustrated and consider retaliation. However Daniel a righteous man of princely lineage demonstrates the blessings of placing credit where it belongs.Daniel lived as a captive in Babylon and a devoted follower of God. In Babylon were magicians, enchanters, sorcerers, and astrologers, servants of King Nebuchadnezzar. King Nebuchadnezzar placed great confidence in these men and sought their expertise in deciphering the troubling dreams he was having. They couldn’t do it and because they couldn’t do it the king decided they should be put to death along with the wise men of Babylon, which included Daniel. As a captive it would be easy to understand wanting to save oneself however Daniel went to the king and asked for time to interpret his dreams. Fast forward, Daniel along with his friends pleaded with God for mercy and God revealed to Daniel the meaning of the king’s dream. Daniel gave full credit to God and didn’t deem it necessary to allow the king to think that he did something that only God could do. In the end Daniel was honored but it was God who was praised.Always give honor to whom honor is due. “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, (Ephesians 3:20)”.
